Out and About in Kidlington

Kidlington is an Oxfordshire village situated only 4.2 miles north of Oxford and dates back far in history. Indeed, first century pottery and a bronze coin dating back to 364-375 A.D.) were excavated in 1949. If you visit the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford you can see two Saxon spears that were found in Kidlington.

When you are out and about in Kidlington take a visit to its medieval church St. Mary the Virgin which is open to visitors on Wednesday and Sunday afternoons during the summer months with homemade teas on Sunday. The church dates from 1220 and has ancient woodwork and fine medieval glass with a thin spire called ‘Our Lady’s Needle’ and the tower houses a peal of eight bells.

The village of Kidlington is ideally situated with Woodstock and Blenheim Palace only 4 miles away. Blenheim Palace is the home of the Duke of Marlborough and the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill.

There are a variety of shops to visit when out and about in Kidlington with Bicester Outlet Centre nearby with designer shops but with discount prices. Oxford is only a few miles away with its many shops and of course its colleges and marvellous architecture.

Kidlington is ideally situated to explore the surrounding villages and countryside and offers varied accommodation ranging from hotels, bed and breakfasts, self catering cottages, and pub accommodation.

Take a walk through the village and the nearby canal and enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside. Why not take a picnic and relax along the water’s edge and see the wildlife and hear the birds singing and even see a picturesque barge making its way along its journey at a leisurely pace.

After a tiring day exploring the area settle down to enjoy your evening and sample the many different cusines Kidlington has to offer. There are restaurants and pubs to choose from including Tiffins Tandoori, a unique eating experience using only the freshest ingredients with an extensive menu to suit all the family.
