Out and about in Thame

Thame can be traced back to the Domesday Book in 1087. It is a thriving market town and has regular markets on Tuesday.

The first recording of the market hall was in 1509 when it was then called the Moot Hall. Over the years it has played an important part in Thame’s day to day life and although altered inside, it has seen little alterations outwardly.

When you are out and about in Thame be sure to visit the local museum found in the Court House in the High Street. It provides information on the history of the town and has a variety of displays and artefacts.

If you visit Thame during June you will see the town celebrate the arrival of summer with a week long festival with entertainment, games, culminating with a carnival type parade through the town on the third Saturday in June.

Thame has a wide array of cafes, pubs, restaurants and shops to suit everyone and when you are out and about in Thame you are never far away from the beautiful countryside of the Thames and Chiltern offering quiet walks with stunning views of the surrounding area.
